Complacency means a sense of self-satisfaction, most especially when coupled with mindless dogma, impending trouble, and a pervasive lack of awareness.
One of the Buddha’s great teachings was to question complacency, to know why you are doing what it is you are doing. Tradition can be good; mindless tradition is death.
For the true artist, complacency is anathema; great art flows from an open channel, not a fixed program, indelibly marked upon the weak of spirit.
Take stock of where you are—as if you had a purpose. Are you going along, or stepping into new territory?
