Parent Child Morality
Art does not exist in a vacuum. It is about life and living, after all.
I’m taking an informal poll, and would appreciate your opinion.
Are adult children responsible for their elderly parents? Yes? No?
Is providing care for a parent a duty, ethical obligation, or a deep existential moral need?
Sooner or later, most will confront this issue and these questions.
This is a profound issue.
I don’t see it as a duty; to me, it’s a privilege to care for those beings that gave me life, nourished me, and took care of me.
Asian cultures have more of a feeling for their filial members than here in the west where everything it seems is disposable.
I’m glad to respond to this one. It’s a no brainer. Of course, you must take care of your parents—unless they were monsters.
