Adele Darling
Adele: 1926--2008
Today marks a year since my dear mother, Adele, left this world after a long and painful illness.
She’s in my thoughts each day; I was blessed to have had (and still do) her as my mother, not out of some maudlin nostalgia, but for her Zen wisdom in matters—which was direct and intuitive. Of course, the older I get, the smarter Adele becomes.
She taught me the merits and beauty of being grateful in a world going insane with mindless acquisitions, rote behavior, and spiritual bankruptcy. She taught by example; she had no secret agendas. I remember and put her lessons to good use, and that’s the point.
